Ryanair strike cancels more than 100 flights in Belgium

More than 100 flights have been canceled as employees of the low-cost airline Ryanair in Belgium went on strike this weekend.

According to local media, the union representing the Belgian cabin crew of the Irish firm Ryanair will go on strike on January 7 and 8, at the end of the Christmas and New Year holidays, disrupting many flights.

Due to the strike, more than 100 Ryanair flights from the Belgian Charleroi airport to various points in Europe were canceled on those dates, and approximately 20,000 passengers will be affected by these cancellations.

Charleroi airport also warned that flights were canceled due to the strike and asked passengers with flights on those dates to check the status of their flights.

THEY WERE ON STRIKE IN THE NEW YEAR, TOO

Ryanair employees are demanding that their wages and working conditions be improved. Company employees also went on strike between December 31 and January 1, and many flights were cancelled.

There are frequent disagreements between Ryanair and its employees over employment conditions and wages. The flight crew goes on strike, especially during peak travel hours. (AA)
