Governor of the Central Bank of Poland: Switching to the euro would be extremely harmful
The governor of the Central Bank of Poland, Glapinski, said that if Poland starts using the euro instead of the zloty, there could be a “radical” drop in the growth rate.
Stating that making the euro Poland’s currency would benefit the wealthy who spend money abroad and those who own property abroad, Glapinski said: “Poland’s transition to the euro would be extremely harmful for the country. We have polish currency. We have a currency that appreciates in the free market.” he used his statements.
Glapinski emphasized that although interest rates have not changed in recent months, the zloty has strengthened and stabilized, contrary to “apocalypse” thoughts.
Glapinski pointed out that some European Union (EU) countries that use the euro have inflation above 20 percent, adding that the transition to the euro alone will not help in the fight against inflation. (AA)
