Production of cereals and herbal products increased in 2022
The Statistical Institute of Turkey published Crop Production Statistics for 2022.
According to the data, in 2022 there was a 14.6% increase in cereals and other plant products (excluding feed plants), 7.7% in fruit, beverage and spice plants, and a decrease of 0.5% in vegetables compared to the previous year.
Accordingly, production quantities in 2022 were approximately 70.2 million tons in cereals and other herbal products, 31.6 million tons in vegetables, and 26.8 million tons in fruit, beverage, and food plants. spices.
THE PRODUCTION OF DRIED ONIONS DECREASED 6 PERCENT
Considering the amounts of production in the group of vegetables, it was observed that there was an increase of 2.6 percent in cucumber, 33.5 percent in carrot, 2.5 percent in tomato puree, 0.7 percent in tomato, 2.1 percent in watermelon and 6 percent in dried onion.
Compared to the previous year, wheat production increased 11.9 percent to 19.8 million tons, maize production increased 25.9 percent to 8.5 million tons, barley production increased 47.8 percent to 8.5 million tons, rye production to 8.5 million tons increased 36.5 percent to 273 thousand tons, oat production increased 32.2 percent to 365 thousand tons.
Considering the amounts of production in the fruit group, it was observed that there was an increase of 7.2 percent in apples, 13.5 percent in grapes, 13 percent in peaches and nectarines, 4.9 percent in plums, 8.8 percent in strawberries and 71.2 percent in olives compared to the previous year. In addition, the production of figs increased by 9.4 percent and the production of bananas increased by 12.9 percent.
