The third meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission began
The third meeting of the Commission for the Determination of the Minimum Wage began in the framework of the studies to determine the figure of the minimum wage that will apply in 2023.
At the closed-door meeting at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, additional data requested from representatives of the Treasury and Finance and Trade ministries and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) will be discussed.
It is expected that the minimum wage figure that will apply in the new year will be determined in the assembly, where workers and employers will negotiate the figures.
‘OUR DESIRE IS THE TRIPLE AGREEMENT’
TÜRK-İŞ General Secretary Pevrul Kavlak, when asked by members of the press at the entrance to the meeting, stated that people were waiting for the new figure with hope and said: “I hope we can agree on a figure that will not disappoint your expectations, we will sign a tripartite agreement. This is our wish, ”he said.
Minimum wage negotiations that directly affect millions of workers have come to an end. The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, meeting today for the third time, is expected to reach an agreement on the minimum wage to apply for 2023.

The minimum wage was set at 4,253 TL net for 2022, and in the middle of the year, it was increased again to approximately 5,500 TL. In addition, from the beginning of 2022, the stamp duty on the minimum wage and the income tax for all employees up to the minimum wage were abolished.
The workers’ side also argues that regulations should be made regarding the taxation of the minimum wage. According to data from the ministry, 37 percent of private sector employees receive the minimum wage.
