Sanctions rain down on utility companies

Fine of 878 million TL from the Competition Authority to suppliers

The investigation, which was carried out as a follow-up to the investigation of the Competition Authority, in which an administrative fine of approximately TL 2.7 billion was imposed on 5 market chains (BİM, A101, ŞOK, Migros, Carrefour) and a supplier (Savola), has been completed.

In the field of research, the pricing behaviors of 15 companies, which are manufacturers/suppliers, in chain markets were examined.

As a result of the examinations and evaluations, it was determined that some vendors on the investigation side formed a cartel to determine the shelf prices of the markets by coordinating the price increases among the five big chain markets.

13 ADMINISTRATIVE FINES FOR ATTEMPT

In addition to the cartel, it was concluded that some investigated companies also violated the Competition Law by directly determining the gondola prices in the markets.

In this context, due to the cartel and/or determination of the resale price, which is one of the types of violations of competition that can indirectly cause an increase in gondola prices in the markets;

5 NO SANCTION TO THE CHAIN ​​MARKET

The Competition Board ruled that there is no place for a new administrative sanction in the framework of this investigation for 5 markets in the chain. In the statement made, it was stated that a total administrative fine of TL 2.7 billion was imposed on 5 market chains consisting of BİM, A101, Şok, Migros and Carrefoursa, and one supplier (Savola).
