We cannot get rid of the fund even if it is 8 thousand lira.
On December 7, the first meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission was held. In the context of the investigation of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the expectations of workers and employers, some figures for the 2023 minimum wage began to be discussed. It is expected that Türk-İş, which began the minimum wage negotiation with the hunger limit of 7 thousand 785 lira, evaluate offers of about 8 thousand TL from Türk-İş. Employer representatives are expected to mention 6-month inflation plus the 10-15 point social participation formula. With the social participation of the IPC + 15, the increase proposal is expected to remain around 30-35%, and the employer is expected to negotiate for a maximum of 7 thousand 425 TL. According to the results of the investigation carried out by the Ministry, the common expectation was 7,845 lire.
COUNTRY MINIMUM WAGE
Minister Vedat Bilgin also stated that an expectation of 8 thousand lire was formed. Turkey, which ranks next to last among European countries with a current net minimum wage of 5,500 lira (279 euros), can only go up to 406 euros, even if the 2023 minimum wage rises 45 percent to 8,000 lira. According to this estimate, the gross salary of 9,412 TL and the minimum salary, which is 478 euros, cannot change their ranking with this figure. Although Turkey moves up two places among European countries with this minimum wage, it may again lose positions towards the bottom with the increase in minimum wages in Europe in the new year. With the depreciation of the Turkish lira and high inflation continuing to reduce its purchasing power, it appears that it will continue to exist among the countries with the worst minimum wages.

cheap work haven
The minimum wage, which was raised twice in 2022, was unable to cover losses to inflation and bottomed out against the euro. In Turkey, which is among the countries with the cheapest labor force, more than half of the active population of 34 million 349 thousand people has been sentenced to the minimum wage and the wages adjacent to it, and has almost become a country of minimum wage wage earners.
