Private sector employees are waiting for promotion

Turkish-The Board of Presidents of Companies requested a legislative guarantee for the payment of bank promotions to employees of the private sector. Türk-İş, which included the issue of promotion among the board’s resolutions, wanted to create a level that varies according to salary and determine the lower limit, as in the case of retirees, so that the promotion to be paid is not low . Türk-İş will be in close contact with the ruling and opposition parties to issue legal regulations until the elections. In the joint decision taken by the Board of Presidents of Türk-İş in the scope of the negotiations on the minimum wage, it was stated that “employees in the private sector should also be included in the scope of application of the regulation regarding salary promotion of retired and public employees, and a lower limit should be set to prevent them from becoming victims.”

BOSSES Spend

Officials who provided information to SÖZCÜ said that all civil servants and retirees received salary promotions, while those working in the private sector did not receive any promotions, except for some unionized workers. The officials said: “According to the information we received, employers in the private sector contract with banks for salary increases, but they do not give the promotion to the workers and spend it themselves. Some companies also buy cars from banks instead of cash promotions, ”he said.

It was learned that Türk-İş wanted a legal arrangement that would force banks to pay the promotion directly to the employee, not the bosses, and that in this way, the promotion would be deposited in the employee’s account, just like the salary. The officials pointed out that the problem cannot be solved unless there is a legal regulation.

The lower limit must be determined by law.

Assessing the issue, a union president said they have largely solved the problem of promotion in unionized workplaces. Stating that promotion cannot be left to the discretion of the boss in non-unionized workplaces, the union president said: “If, for example, the worker gets a 10,000 lire promotion, he will breathe a sigh of relief and reunite. the needs of him. However, for this, a lower limit must be set in the law and a rule must be determined so that this salary is at least equal to the promotion. Otherwise, the banks and employers agree and the amount that the worker receives decreases.
