Minimum wage survey of the Ministry of Labor: expected 7 thousand 845 TL
The expectations were clear in the minimum wage negotiations that began today.
In the statement issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security; The results of the investigation initiated in the framework of the studies to determine the minimum wage in force in 2023 have been released.

55 PERCENT SAID ‘UNEMPLOYMENT IS RISING’
According to the statement reached by SÖZCÜ from ministerial sources, when asked if unemployment will increase as the minimum wage increases, 55 percent of those surveyed responded that increasing the minimum wage would increase unemployment, while 45 percent responded no.
Looking at the breakdown, the rate of employers responding to this question that unemployment would rise was 68.8 percent.
THE INCREASE IN JULY WAS NOT ENOUGH
According to the research results, 60 percent of the participants declared that they did not find the additional increase in July sufficient. Notably, only 10 percent of the participants found this walk sufficient.
In terms of demographics, it was also noteworthy that 26.8 percent of survey participants stated that they earned minimum wage.
‘THE EMPLOYER OBSERVES THE EXPLANATIONS MORE THAN THE EMPLOYEE’
The survey also drew attention to the level of follow-up of the explanations about the minimum wage.
While 80.4 percent of workers claimed to follow the explanations, this rate was 81.9 percent for employers.
In the general public, the follow-up rate for minimum wage ads was determined to be 79.5 percent.
TÜRK-İŞ SAID ‘AT LEAST 7 thousand 785 TL’
Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay spoke ahead of the minimum wage negotiations that will start today.
Atalay said: “We will not sit at the table with 5,500 liras, we will sit at the limit of hunger (7,785 liras). Let’s see what figure puts the employers and the government. If there is a figure that we do not agree with, we will not be at that table and we will not sign it,” he said.
