Apple could move some iPad production from China to India
US-based technology company Apple is working to shift some production of iPad-branded tablets from China to India.
On CNBC news, based on two sources close to the Indian government, it was claimed that talks between Apple and officials are continuing.
According to the sources, India has begun exploring options for Apple to move some of its iPad production out of China. It was indicated that the technology giant is in permanent talks with the authorities, and that concrete measures have not yet been taken on the subject. But if the government effort is successful, Apple’s manufacturing bases in the country will expand.
PRODUCTION STARTED IN HINDIRTAN
Apple did not respond to questions on the matter. The giant company announced earlier this year that it had begun assembly of its flagship iPhone 14 in South India. Apple has been producing older iPhone models in this country for several years.
However, the sources highlighted the lack of experts in manufacturing complex devices like the iPad. Sources warned that this could slow down plans in India.
CHINA’S STRONG COVID POLICY PUSHED APPLE TO SEEK
According to CNBC, Apple’s desire to shift its supply chain from China to other countries is increasing due to Beijing’s strict zero-covid policy. Apple warned in early November that iPhone shipments would be delayed due to restrictions in China, and analysts lowered their estimates for Apple’s balance sheets.
On the other hand, The Wall Street Journal announced over the weekend that Apple wants to move production from China and diversify it in some Asian countries such as India and Vietnam.
