The opinion of the investigative committee was that food companies should be sanctioned and chain markets should not be sanctioned considering the previous sanctions.

In the investigation carried out against the markets, suppliers and manufacturers to determine if article 4 of the Competition Law has been violated, the verbal defense stage has been reached. The defenses will continue today and tomorrow.

WILL THE MARKETS BE PENALIZED?

In the opening speech of the defense meeting, the Chairman of the Competition Authority, Birol Küle, expressed his opinion that A101, BİM, CarrefourSA, Migros and Şok violated the competition, but that no administrative fine should be imposed on these organizations due to the sanctions imposed for the same behavior. prior to.

It claimed that Küle, Beypazarı, Coca Cola, Doğanay, Düzey, Eti, Fritolay, GSK, Haribo, Kent, Pacific, Pepsi, Redbull, Şölen and Unmaş also violated competition.

Reporting that these companies play a role in ensuring and maintaining coordination among retailers, Küle said: “Retailers are considered to be aware of such coordination and use information about their competitors that is passed on to them by suppliers in their forward-looking pricing decisions. . .”

THESE COMPANIES WANTED SANCTION

In this context, it was indicated that administrative fines should be imposed on Beypazarı, Coca Cola, Doğanay, Düzey, Eti, Fritolay, GSK, Haribo, Kent, Pacific, Pepsi, Redbull, Şölen and Unmaş in accordance with article 16 of Law No. .4054. .

It was claimed that there was no place to impose an administrative fine on the company in question, since no evidence could be found of Horizon’s infringement of competition.

Last year, the Competition Authority imposed an administrative fine of TL 2.671 million on BİM, CarrefourSA, Migros, ŞOK, A 101 and Savola Gıda.
