The drug crisis has deepened: 25 percent of drugs on the market are inaccessible

Arman Üney, President of the Turkish Pharmacists Association (TEB), drew attention to the fact that the lack of medicines, which has been experienced for some time, is increasing.

“According to the information we have received, about 25 percent of the medicines on the market are currently not accessible,” Üney said, adding that while some group medicines could not be found at all, access to some group medicines was very limited. .

Noting that there is a big problem with antibiotic syrups, antipyretics and pain relievers used especially in the treatment of children, Üney said:

“Also, there is great difficulty in accessing hypertension drugs, chemotherapy drugs used in cancer treatment, seasonal cold drugs, antidepressants, pain relievers, pain reliever ampoules, ear drops, eye drops, nasal sprays , birth control pills and injections, cortisones and eczema medicines. ”

‘NO MEDICINES WRITTEN IN PRECISION ARE FOUND’

Emphasizing that the victimization of patients also aggrieved pharmacists, Üney said: “The reason for the long lines at seizures is not the number of pharmacies on duty, but the lack of availability of the drugs on prescriptions.”

Saying: “For drugs that are prescribed but not available on the market, our colleagues try to find solutions that do not interrupt the patient’s treatment by contacting the doctor,” said Üney. Pharmacists call pharmacies and other pharmacies without stopping to find the medicine on the prescription, saying they have their phone in their hand and maybe they have hope. All of these processes can cause patients and their families to wait a long time at pharmacies and form queues.

Üney said: “This situation has ceased to be sustainable and has become a problem that requires an urgent solution.”

‘IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN’

“Now, the current drug pricing policies have become the problem instead of solving the problem,” Üney said, adding: “The drug shortage turns into a drug crisis. It is necessary to take urgent measures in the face of this situation and rebuild the current pricing policies taking the opinions of all stakeholders.

Üney said, “It is of great importance to support the domestic pharmaceutical industry and encourage domestic production that will produce new molecular drugs based on pharmaceutical employment.” (PHOENIX)
