In the first 8 months of this year, natural gas was cut off to more than 37,000 subscribers.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez, announced that 37,657 natural gas subscribers were cut in the first 8 months of this year due to their debt.

CHP Niğde MP Ömer Fethi Gürer asked Fatih Dönmez in his parliamentary question about the number of subscribers who had their natural gas cut off because they could not pay their bills. Responding to Gürer’s proposal, Dönmez announced that the number of subscribers cut off from natural gas due to non-payment of debt across Turkey was 22,142 by 2021 and this number increased to 37,657 in the first 8 months of 2022.

Dönmez said: “The data is regularly reported in the EMRA Reporting System. In this context, there is no instantaneous and average daily data in the EMRA database.

‘UPS ENERGY BREAKS THE WAISTBANDS OF LITTLE INCOME’

CHP Niğde MP Ömer Fethi Gürer assessed Minister Dönmez’s response in his statement. Gürer said: “The economic crisis forces citizens in all fields. 37 thousand 657 people could not pay for natural gas in 8 months. Electricity, increases in fuel prices have bent the backs of fixed and low-income people.

Noting that people are now trying to keep warm under blankets and not touching the light switch, Gürer said: “In the Presidential System of Government, the President raises market prices, but does not mention increases of prices in electricity, natural gas and fuel, to your knowledge”.
