Purchases of land and homes by foreign citizens in Turkey have increased exponentially in recent years. However, in 20 years, citizens of countries that we have not even heard of acquired property.

Citizens of countries like Saint Kitts and Nevis, Seychelles, Vanuatu, Comoros, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Micronesia, and Laos also bought land, land, residences, and workplaces from different provinces of Turkey.

CHP İzmir Deputy Minister Murat asked Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum for data on foreigners who bought land, land, vineyards, gardens, residences and workplaces from Turkey in the last 20 years. The institution disclosed the situation of foreigners who purchase homes and land in Turkey by provinces and countries.

Assessing the data shared by the Ministry, the CHP Minister said, “I looked at the data with surprise. The first to attract attention; In recent years, thousands of citizens of countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Sudan, Iraq, and Iran have purchased property such as land, land, vineyards, gardens, residences, and workplaces from Turkey.

Stating that the number of foreigners who bought property in Istanbul in 2021 is 27,899, the Minister said: “Of these, 260 Qatar, 468 Libya, 511 Algeria, 534 Sudan, 623 Lebanon, 677 Russia, 699. United States, 825 Palestinians, 834 Egypt, 897 Yemen, 718 Jordan, 798 Pakistan, 948 China, 2,135 Afghanistan, 2,777 Iraq, 7,536 Iran. Until the last few years, no one has come from these countries and bought property in our country.”

SAINT KITTS, NEVIS, SEYCHELLES, VANUATU, TRINIDAD…

CHP İzmir Deputy Minister Murat said, “Although the extraordinary rise in Middle Eastern countries has come to the fore, you can see that citizens of countries some of us have never heard of come to acquire property from Turkey.” .

The Minister continued his words as follows, “Data; He reveals that citizens of countries like Saint Kitts and Nevis, Seychelles, Vanuatu, Comoros, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Micronesia, and Laos also buy land, land, residences, and workplaces from different provinces of Turkey. How did this happen, why did it happen? Have all of these people been granted citizenship? We don’t know any of them.”

NOTABLE INCREASE IN BURSA-SAKARYA

Stating that the increase in sales in Bursa and Sakarya is also striking, the Minister said: “For example; The number of foreigners who bought property in Sakarya alone in 2021 is 1133. Of them, 532 are Iraqis, 121 Kuwaitis, 67 Qataris, 48 ​​Yemenis, 40 Saudis, 38 Jordanians, 34 Iranians. Citizens of countries such as Mauritania, Oman, Tajikistan, Dominica and the United Arab Emirates are also among those who have acquired Sakarya properties.

Assessing the data on Bursa, the Minister said: “According to the Bursa data of 2021; 1,803 foreigners acquired properties. Of these, 615 are Kuwaitis, 127 Russians, 90 Iraqis, 71 Afghans, 70 Kazakhs, 50 Palestinians and 56 Jordanians. There were also those who came from countries like Djibouti, Somalia, Nigeria, Cambodia and Eritrea and bought real estate in Bursa.”
