Electricity production fell 3.5 percent on-year in September
Turkey’s licensed electricity production decreased by 3.5 percent in September compared to the same month a year earlier and became 25,823,15 megawatt hours.
According to the September “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, 28.7 percent of licensed electricity production corresponds to natural gas power plants, 23.3 percent to imported coal power plants, 15.3 percent hydro, 14 percent lignite power. and 9.6 percent was obtained from wind power plants.
These sources were followed by geothermal, biomass, solar, coal, asphaltite, and fuel oil, respectively.
40.3 PERCENT OF CONSUMPTION IS FROM INDUSTRY
The amount of billed electricity consumption decreased 0.7 percent in the same period and was registered at 22,263,931 megawatt-hours.
40.3 percent of consumption was made by industry, 25.8 percent by the public and private services sector and other subscribers, and 24.5 percent by residential subscribers. The share of agricultural activities was estimated at 7.4 percent and the share of lighting was estimated at 2 percent.
THE NUMBER OF SUBSCRIBERS INCREASED 2.4 PERCENT
The number of electricity subscribers increased 2.4 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 48 million 136 thousand 880.
In this period, the number of residential consumers increased 3.8 percent, the number of consumers of agricultural activities increased 3.3 percent, the number of lighting consumers decreased 16.7 percent, the number of consumers of public and private services and others decreased 3.9. percent and the number of industrial consumers decreased by 3 percent.
Turkey’s licensed electricity installed capacity, on the other hand, increased 2.8 percent in this period to approximately 94,022 megawatts.
26.8 percent of the installed capacity corresponds to natural gas cycle power plants, 24.7 percent to hydroelectric power plants with reservoirs, 11.8 percent to wind power plants and the rest to facilities that generate electricity from from other energy sources. (AA)
