Istanbulites have cut back on portions, barely making ends meet.

The “Istanbul Barometer” October report, which is published regularly every month by IMM Istanbul Planning Agency, has been announced. According to the results of the survey carried out on 601 households by telephone, the topic most discussed at home was economic problems.

Istanbulites are concerned about having access to adequate food. According to the data of the October report of the Istanbul Barometer; 74.6 percent of the participants affirmed that economic problems are the ones that are most talked about at home. Financial problems, family problems and health problems followed.

THEY CANNOT ACCESS ENOUGH FOOD

59.2 percent of the participants stated that they were concerned that they would not be able to reach enough food in October. The rate of those who were unable to get the food they wanted due to financial insufficiency increased compared to the previous month and became 64.2 percent.

57.8 percent of the participants stated that they reduced their portions because they did not reach enough food in October.

THEY HAVE A LITTLE OPINION

In October, 43.6 percent of Istanbul residents said they thought their economic situation would worsen.

43.7 percent of Istanbul residents said they couldn’t earn a living, 23.1 percent said they couldn’t make some payments and got into debt, 20.6 percent said they couldn’t get along, the 44.6 percent said they could barely make ends meet.
