Number of tourists exceeded 40 million in 9 months

According to statistics from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the total number of foreign visitors increased by 97.96 percent compared to the first 9 months of the previous year and reached 34,810,273.

According to 9-month data released by TUIK, the total number of visitors exceeded 40 million as of September, with 5 million 436 thousand 626 foreign residents visiting Turkey.

Turkey’s tourism revenue in 9 months was 35 thousand 28 million 540 thousand dollars in total.

In the ranking of the countries that send the most visitors to Turkey, in the first 9 months, Germany is the first with an increase of 99.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and with 4 million 527 thousand 853 people, Russia with an increase of 11.8 percent and 3 million 864 thousand 898 people. The United Kingdom ranked second with an increase of 1952.9 percent and 2 million 817 thousand 271 people. Britain was followed by Bulgaria and Iran, respectively.

In the ranking of the sending countries with the most visitors, in September, the Russian Federation was the first with 860 thousand 741 people, Germany the second with 677 thousand 37 people, and the UK (United Kingdom) the third with 456 thousand 867 people. Bulgaria and Iran followed England.
