2022 forecasts announced in crop production
Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the data of the “Second estimate of crop production, 2022” has been published.
In the second estimate of 2022, production quantities are estimated to increase by 14.3% in cereals and other plant products (excluding forage crops) and by 3.8% in fruit, beverage and spice plants compared to the last year.
Consequently, production quantities are estimated to be approximately 70 million tons in cereals and other herbal products, 31.7 million tons in vegetables and 25.8 million tons in fruit, beverage and spice crops. in 2022.
ESTIMATED 20.7 PERCENT INCREASE IN GRAIN PRODUCTION
The production amount of cereal products is estimated to increase by 20.7 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year and will reach about 38.5 million tons.
Compared with the previous year, wheat production increased by 11.9 percent to 19.8 million tons, corn production increased by 23 percent to 8.3 million tons, barley production increased by 47 .8 percent to 8.5 million tonnes, rye production increased by 36 percent. Oat production is forecast to increase by 5 percent to 273 thousand tons, and oat production is forecast to increase by 32.2 percent to 365 thousand tons.
Chickpeas, one of the important legumes, increased 22.1 percent to 580 thousand tons, dry beans decreased 11.5 percent to 270 thousand tons, red lentils increased 75.4 percent to 400 thousand tons; Potato, one of the tuber plants, was estimated to increase by 2 percent and produce 5.2 million tons.
Soybean production from oilseeds is forecast to decline 14.8 percent to 155 thousand tons, and sunflower production to increase 5.6 percent to about 2.6 million tons.
Tobacco production is estimated to increase by 15 percent to 82.3 thousand tons, and sugar beet production to increase by 6.9 percent to 19 million tons.
VEGETABLE PRODUCTION IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN HORIZONTAL
The production amount of plant products is estimated to be about 31.7 million tons in 2022 without any change compared to the previous year.
It is estimated that there will be an increase of 2.8 percent in cucumber, 33.3 percent in carrot, 19 percent in white cabbage, a decrease of 0.7 percent in tomato, 1.5 percent in watermelon and 6 percent in dry onion, which is one of the important products of the group of vegetables.
EXPECTED INCREASE IN FRUIT PRODUCTION
The production amount of fruit, beverage and spice plants is estimated to increase by 3.8 percent in 2022 compared with the previous year and reach about 25.8 million tons.
Considering the amount of production of important products among fruits, compared with the previous year, 5.2 percent in apples, 13.5 percent in grapes, 12.5 percent in peaches and nectarines, 8.5 percent in plums, 8.7 percent in strawberries, 71.2 percent in olives. is expected to increase.
A decline of 17.7 percent was forecast for mandarins, 31.3 percent for oranges and 32.5 percent for lemons. It is estimated that there will be an increase of 11.8 percent in hazelnuts and 100.5 percent in pistachios.
It is anticipated that there will be an increase of 9.4 percent in figs and 12.9 percent in bananas.
