Turkey’s natural gas imports decreased in August
According to the August “Natural Gas Market Sector Report” from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, approximately 3,556 million cubic meters of Turkey’s imports were through pipelines and 296 million cubic meters from facilities. of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
In this period, imports of natural gas through pipelines increased by around 0.86 percent, while imports of LNG decreased by 54.04 percent. Total imports of natural gas, meanwhile, decreased 7.62 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and stood at approximately 3 thousand 852 million cubic meters.
While the majority of natural gas imports were made from Russia with 2,113 million cubic meters in August, this country was followed by Iran with 904 million cubic meters and Azerbaijan with 538 million cubic meters.
In this period, imports from Russia increased by 1.54 percent, while imports from Iran increased by 0.74 percent. Azerbaijan’s gas imports decreased by 1.53 percent.
5.6 PERCENT INCREASE IN HOMES GAS CONSUMPTION
In said period, the consumption of natural gas in the country decreased by 17.68 percent and stood at 3 thousand 593 million cubic meters.
The natural gas consumption of the organized industrial zones decreased by 6.66 percent and was recorded at 333 million cubic meters.
Natural gas consumption at power plants fell 21.8 percent to 1.725 billion cubic meters. The decrease in gas consumption at the plants was also a determining factor in the decrease in total consumption and imports.
In August, the consumption of natural gas in residences increased 5.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was registered at 318 million cubic meters.
INCREASE IN STOCK QUANTITY
The amount of natural gas stocks in Turkey rose 37.8 percent in August compared with the same month a year earlier and became 3.713 billion cubic meters.
3,491 million cubic meters (94 percent) of the natural gas stock was in underground storage and 221 million cubic meters (5.97 percent) in LNG terminals.
In this period, the amount of stock in underground storage increased by approximately 50.5 percent, while the amount of stock in LNG terminals decreased by 40.5 percent. (AA)
