Car production increased by 12 percent in the first 9 months
The Automotive Industry Association (OSD) announced production, export and market data for the January-September period.
In this way, in the 9-month period of the year, total automobile production increased 12 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 1 million 74 thousand 155. Automobile production increased 21 percent to 687 thousand 817 .
Total production, including tractor production, reached 1,117,620. In the nine-month period of the year, commercial vehicle production decreased by 1 percent and light commercial vehicle group production decreased by 4 percent. compared to the same period last year. In the heavy commercial vehicle group, production increased by 26 percent.
EXPORTS INCREASED
In the 9-month period of the year, automotive exports increased 7 percent in terms of units compared to the same period last year, reaching 733,956.
During this period, automobile exports increased by 20 percent compared to the same period last year, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 11 percent. Tractor exports increased by 9 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 14,462.
According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the total exports of the automotive industry maintained its first place in the ranking of sectoral exports with 16 percent in the nine-month period of this year.
According to data from the Uludağ Exporters Association, total automobile exports in the said period increased by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching $26.2 billion. Total sales in the 9 months of the year increased by 63 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 894,663. During this period, the automobile market grew by 67 percent with 666,890 units.
When we look at the commercial vehicle market, in the 9 months of the year, there was a growth of 51 percent in the total commercial vehicle market, 28 percent in the heavy commercial vehicle market and 57 percent in the light commercial vehicle market.
