The EU prepares to reduce emissions from heavy vehicles
As part of the European Green Deal, the EU Commission presented a new regulation proposal for heavy vehicles in the field of emission reduction in the transport sector.
Consequently, the emissions of several heavy-duty vehicles, such as new trucks and buses that will be sold from 2040, will need to be 90 percent lower.
Heavy vehicle emissions will be reduced by 45% by 2030 and by 65% by 2035.
The buses that operate in cities of European countries will be zero emissions from 2030.
After this stage, the regulation will be negotiated by the European Parliament (EP) and the member states. The regulation will be approved once a common emissions target is agreed.
The EU aims to make all sectors and vehicles zero emissions by 2050.
On the other hand, the General Assembly of the EP today approved the ban on the sale of new gasoline and diesel cars in the countries of the Union from 2035. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
