Vehicle sales in Japan fall to their lowest level in 45 years
According to vehicle sales figures from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (JADA), a total of 4,201,321 vehicles, including mini-vehicles, were sold in Japan in 2022.
This rate was the lowest level in the last 45 years. The sales figure was registered as the lowest figure in the country since 1977, when approximately 4 million 190 thousand vehicles were sold.
Thus, sales in 2022 decreased by 5.6 percent compared to the previous year.
The reason for the decline was the issue of semiconductor soldering and disruptions in the parts supply chain caused by Covid-19.
TOYOTA, NISSAN, HONDA HAVE FAILED
Last year, Toyota sold 1,217,128 vehicles with a decrease of 12.4 percent, Nissan sold 272,020 vehicles with a decrease of 0.8 percent and Honda sold 269,034 vehicles with a decrease of 1.9 percent.
Mitsubishi, for its part, sold 49,178 vehicles, an increase of 42.4 percent. The Japanese manufacturers Suzuki and Mazda also registered an increase in their domestic sales. (AA)
