Car production stagnated
The Automotive Industry Association (OSD) announced production and export figures and market data for the January-September period.
Thus, in the first 9 months of the year, total automotive production increased 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and reached 962 thousand 18, while automobile production was 571 thousand 6 units, following a parallel course.
The total production in the production of tractors reached 996 thousand 926 units.
INCREASED 12 PERCENT
In the January-September period, commercial vehicle production increased 12 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.
In this period, while production in the heavy commercial vehicle group increased by 33 percent, production in the light commercial vehicle group increased by 10 percent. In that period, the capacity utilization rate of the automotive industry was 66 percent.
On a vehicle group basis, capacity utilization rates were 66 percent in light vehicles (car + light commercial vehicle), 85 percent in truck group, 36 percent in bus-midibus group and 62 percent on the tractor.
AUTOMOTIVE EXPORTS INCREASE 5 PERCENT COMPARED TO 2021
In the January-September period, automobile exports increased 2 percent per unit compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 687,966. In that period, while automobile exports decreased 1 percent compared to the same period of the In the previous year, commercial vehicle exports increased by 8 percent. Tractor exports, for their part, increased 11 percent compared to 2021 and amounted to 13,331.
According to the data of the Assembly of Exporters of Turkey, the total exports of the automotive industry ranked second in the ranking of sectoral exports with a share of 12 percent in the period January-September 2022.
According to data from the Uludag Exporters Association (UIB), total auto exports in the January-September period increased 5 percent compared to 2021 and reached $22.6 billion. In euros, it rose 18 percent to 21.3 billion euros. In this period, main industry exports increased 2 percent and supplier industry exports increased 8 percent in dollar terms. (AA)
